Are owners of swimming pools liable for drowning accidents and swimming injuries in their pool?
Residential swimming pool owners can be responsible for injuries or death that occur on their property. Most of the time their liability is determined based on the status of the person who was killed or injured. That is, if a trespasser is injured or killed on the premises of the swimming pool owner, there is very limited liability in most situations. However, to the extent that the person has been invited onto the premises, then there could be significant liability associated with a person who is injured or deceased in that swimming pool.
